School of Natural Sciences

Welcome Blue Sky University’s School of Natural Sciences. The School promotes excellence in research, teaching, and public service across the biological, physical, and mathematical sciences. The College provides innovative undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students to be leaders in an increasingly sophisticated scientific and technological society. These programs grow and evolve in an environment that values multidisciplinary and cross-college collaborations and builds on the advantages that a diverse student body brings to a dynamic community of scholars. The School assumes a leadership role in preparing students with the fundamental scientific and quantitative proficiencies critical to a quality liberal education. Key to excellence is the School’s commitment to advancing knowledge through progressive graduate-research programs and undergraduate research experiences. This commitment is manifest in our ability to enhance student learning, promote basic scientific understanding of nature, and develop the technical and human resources necessary to address the current and future needs of society.

More specifically, the School will:

  • Search for an improved scientific understanding of nature and meet societal needs by providing creative and dynamic graduate and research programs;
  • Provide undergraduate major programs that offer a structured, timely, comprehensive education;
  • Provide science and mathematics courses appropriate for students majoring in disciplines in other schools;
  • Provide fundamental science and mathematics education to non-science students across the university;
  • Support public service activities by providing faculty expertise to government agencies, to industries, to educational systems, and to professionals desiring additional scientific education or advice; and by serving as a scientific resource for the citizens of Mongolia and the region.

The School’s Mission

The School of Natural Sciences strives to help our students understand and be able to value their physical, social, academic, and cultural worlds. Through our programs in natural sciences, computer sciences and mathematics, we provide students with knowledge, skills, and experience that prepare them for careers as scientists, mathematicians, or practitioners in a related profession. Our mission is rooted in the University’s Mission Statement, which calls for a balance among the humanities, sciences, and the professions. The School helps to accomplish this by its contribution to the General Education Core-Curriculum and by its various degree programs. By providing General Education courses, the School also educates non-science majors in understanding the role of science and mathematics in today’s world. The School of Natural Sciences strongly promotes research and scholarly activities among students and faculty, which in turn provides the ultimate active learning environment for the students and teaches them to be lifelong learners.
B-SkyU’s School of Natural Sciences comprises a focused and dynamic community of scholars that:

  • Generates scientific, mathematical, and technical knowledge that is at the forefront of inquiry, that defines the frontiers of human understanding of the natural world, and that gives rise to beneficial applications;
  • Educates and inspires new generations of scientific leaders and scientifically literate citizens that contribute to the well-being of humankind;
  • Innovates in research and education within disciplines and explores across disciplinary boundaries to identify unknown linkages and connections.
